Nigerian music star Davido has shared a fresh perspective on where he’s headed next in his career, revealing that winning Grammys is no longer his main focus.
Speaking on the Official UK Afrobeats Chart Show with Eddie Kadi, the award-winning artist reflected on how far he has come on the global stage. From performing in different countries to selling out major arenas and earning multiple Grammy nominations in recent years, Davido says he already feels fulfilled by his achievements.
According to him, this new phase of his journey is less about external recognition and more about staying true to himself and his roots.
“At this point in my career, I’ve performed everywhere, sold out arenas, and attended the Grammys three times in the last three years. The music coming next is very Davido — it’s very African. We’ve done it all, so I’m not really trying to chase Western sounds anymore,” he said.
He emphasized that his upcoming music will be deeply rooted in his African identity, rather than shaped to fit Western expectations.
Davido also highlighted his strong connection with fans in South Africa, noting that he enjoys massive support there. Over the years, he has worked with several South African artists and continues to build strong ties across the continent.
