Lagos DSVA Confirms Arrest Of Man Accused Of Cutting Off Partner’s Finger

The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) has confirmed the arrest and arraignment of a man accused of cutting off his partner’s fing

The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) has confirmed the arrest and arraignment of a man accused of cutting off his partner’s finger in a disturbing domestic violence case involving TikTok user, @anniesglowlagos.

The agency disclosed this in a statement on Thursday, noting that it swung into action after a video of the incident began circulating widely online.

According to the DSVA, it quickly reached out to the survivor and ensured the case was formally reported to the appropriate authorities.

Preliminary findings revealed that the incident occurred on Saturday, March 21, 2026, and was reported at the FESTAC Police Station Tactical Squad. The matter is currently being handled by the Family Support Unit at the station.

The agency said the survivor accused her estranged partner of physically assaulting her, leaving her with severe injuries, including the loss of a finger.

Authorities confirmed that the suspect has since been arrested and the case thoroughly investigated. On March 25, 2026, the matter was charged to Court 6, MBA Ajegunle, where the accused was remanded at the Kirikiri Maximum Security Custodial Centre pending further proceedings.

Bail was granted at ₦200,000 with two sureties, while the next hearing has been scheduled for April 29, 2026.

The DSVA also stated that the survivor has been referred for psychosocial support to aid her recovery.

The case first gained public attention after the victim shared a video on TikTok on March 22, revealing she was receiving treatment in the hospital following the alleged attack.

In the video, she described the severity of her injuries, saying her hand had been badly damaged and required urgent medical care. She also mentioned that she tried to share more graphic evidence but was unable to upload it.

The woman said she had earlier reported the incident to the police but initially felt no action was taken.

She further alleged that the abuse had been ongoing for a long time, despite the fact that she and the accused do not live together. According to her, previous incidents were difficult to document because her phone was often taken during the attacks.

Recounting the latest incident, she claimed the man came to her home, assaulted her, and left her seriously injured. She also alleged that he fled with her son afterward and has continued to threaten her safety.

In an emotional appeal, she called on the public to help amplify her case and demand justice.

Reacting to the situation, the DSVA reiterated the Lagos State Government’s zero-tolerance stance on sexual and gender-based violence, urging residents to speak up and report such incidents.

“If you see something, say something. SGBV — It concerns us all,” the agency stated.
