A video circulating on social media captures the moment a group of women confronted officials of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN), preventing them from disconnecting electricity in their area despite months of poor power supply.
In the clip, the women, speaking in Yoruba, expressed their frustration:
“We have not had electricity, yet you still want to disconnect our wires? For three months, there has been no power. We now sleep outside.”
Clearly angered, the women gathered around the ladder brought by the officials, blocking any attempt to climb the pole and cut off the electricity.
At one point, when one of the officials tried to push a woman aside, others quickly stepped in, surrounding him in protest.
The video has since sparked mixed reactions online, with many praising the women for standing their ground against the PHCN officials.
For the past three months, Nigerians have been grappling with unstable power supply. Just two days ago, the Minister of Power issued an apology, assuring citizens that the situation would improve within two weeks.
