A pastor in South Carolina, Rodney Gibson, has been arrested following allegations that he sexually abused a foster child in his care.
His wife, Kawiana Young, is also facing charges in connection with the case.
The couple, both aged 50, were arrested on April 1 and charged with unlawful conduct with a minor. Gibson is additionally facing multiple charges, including criminal sexual conduct, sexual conduct with a minor, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Authorities say the investigation began in March after a victim reported experiencing sexual abuse in the couple’s home. The alleged abuse reportedly started when the victim was 15 years old and continued until they aged out of the foster care system.
According to the South Carolina Department of Social Services, Young had been a licensed foster parent from June 2021 to June 2025 before voluntarily giving up her license. However, officials noted that Gibson was not listed as living in the home and was never licensed as a foster parent.
Investigators also found that Young allegedly failed to disclose her marriage, instead indicating that she was not in a relationship.
During the investigation, authorities discovered another child—reportedly adopted by Young through the foster care system in 2024—was also living in the home. Young is accused of physically abusing that child.
The child was initially placed in protective custody in March but was briefly returned to the home before being removed again following the couple’s arrest. Officials say the department will continue to cooperate with ongoing investigations.
Both Gibson and Young have since been released on bond.
Gibson has been identified as a pastor at Pathway 2 Hope Ministries, while Young is the owner of DreamCatcher Child Development Center.
